Lots of news out of Sweden from Elektron. After last week with the release of Utility Kicks, they now release another soundpack for Octatrack, Hell Bent on Circuits. Furthermore, they launched Elektronauts this week. Developed ground up, Elektronauts is a meeting point for anyone interested in music production in general and Elektron gear in particular.
Elektron took the time to talk to electronic music artist Mumdance, a.k.a. Jack Adams. He is totally focused on the raw essentials in music. With a few pieces of select gear he pulls off his no-frills tech grooves and, seemingly without effort, it all falls into place. Back to the roots!
Elektron Music Machines has released a new Sound pack for the Octatrack. The Nintari Flashback Sound pack is assembled by Puremagnetik and contains samples from the legendary Atari 2600 and NES consoles. The mixture of seriously raw waveforms, lo-fi squeaks and 8-bit drum sounds will beam the Octatrack straight back to the future. Press start to continue!
Elektron has released OS 1.25 for the Octatrack. It is an essential download for all Octatrack owners, as three brand new effects have been implemented. A stereo image shaping Spatializer, a gritty and twangy Spring Reverb and a lush, smooth and wide Dark Reverb. With these expressive effects the power of the Octatrack just got even more immense!
The pride of instruments you would normally find stowed away in some creaky attic has been restored. Goldbaby is the man behind this cultural achievement. He has dusted off his impressive inventory of forgotten and elusive gear and recorded them all. Soothing samba rhythms, cheap organs and plasticky and charming keyboard tones: the timelessness of the sounds make them forever contemporary.
Elektron Music Machines have just uploaded product presentation videos for the Analog Four, the Octatrack, the Machinedrum UW and the Monomachine. The videos demonstrate basic functionality and sound design possibilites and every video is rounded off with a live demo, featuring an all Elektron set up.
Elektron has teamed up with renowned sample producer Goldbaby to offer Cult of SP 1200, an Octatrack Sound pack brimming with old school vibes. All samples are straight out of the SP 1200 and, since Goldbaby are behind them, sound excellent of course.
Originality is a trait some musicians aim for, while others feel content in refining already established forms of expression. Vero Elektra belongs to the former category. Her moody, yet upbeat, chill wave tracks, infused with vocal snippets functioning as sounds among the rest rather than conveyors of messages, have unique qualities. They strive beyond.
As an absolute impersonality with a very personal attitude towards creativity, We Have A Ghost takes on a unique role in the music climate of today. This remarkable integrity shows in the music as well. The output of this elusive person spans across several genres, but a ghastly presence is felt in all tracks. This is something out of the ordinary.
Skweee, the mutant funk. Ultra-minimal, bare bones and impossibly catchy. Northern Europe has long been center of this scene, but thanks to the output of Moиöcням and friends, the city of Portland might just be the new skweee hot spot.
The intriguing collaboration of Sam Barker and Andreas Baumecker has already produced some mesmerizing results. Their debut release ‘Candyflip’ touches upon techno, house, trance, broken beat, IDM and dub styles during one 9-minute dancefloor opus, yet despite referencing this multitude of genres, their clear intent was to throw away the rulebook and write their own.
