Steinberg released free demo version of Sequel

Sequel is now available as a free trial version for download. The trial version of Steinberg’s music creation and performance software is packed with features and functions that pave the way to your first songs and productions. Functionally identical with the retail version and with a reduced sample content pack for quicker download, Sequel Trial is ideal for trying out your song ideas. The trial version will run on your system for up to 45 days, so there’s plenty of time to record audio, try out all the studio effects, and play around with over 600 playable instruments.

At AES RME present their new ExpressCard solution for modern PCIe Notebooks. The HDSPe ExpressCard is specified as an ExpressCard/34 and provides the same features as the successful PCMCIA version. The card comes with drivers for Windows XP (multi-client operation of MME, GSIF and ASIO 2.0) and brand new drivers for Windows Vista and Vista 64. Apple users are perfectly served with Power PC and MAC Universal (Intel) drivers providing Core Audio and Core MIDI support.

Lexicon announces the PCM96 effects processor

Lexicon is introducing its PCM96 Professional Stereo Reverb/Effects Processor. Clavia acquires original Mellotron sounds

In a deal with David Kean and M. Resch AB, Clavia DMI has acquired digital versions of the vintage master tapes used for the Mellotron keyboard instrument. Clavia’s latest invention, the nord wave, scheduled for release in a few weeks time, will be the first instrument to incorporate some of the classic Mellotron sounds.

Cycling ’74 announced Version 5.0 of its Max/MSP media development tools. This version represents a new era of Max programming, with a completely redesigned multi-processing kernel and a streamlined development environment built on a platform-independent foundation. With a new patcher interface, searchable database of objects and examples, integrated documentation and new tutorials, the new Max user will find a smoother learning curve while experienced users will see improved productivity.

Tascam announces GVI 4 for MAC and GIGASTUDIO 4

TASCAM announced that Giga Virtual Instrument 4 (GVI 4) will be available for Intel-based Macs this year. Previously only available for Windows users, GVI is the only plug-in sampler instrument powered by the Giga sampling engine, and shares many of the specs that made GigaStudio the first choice for professionals worldwide. Other news from Tascam is that the new version of Gigastudio 4 supports 64-bit operating systems like XP64 and Windows Vista 64, allowing users to access up to 128 gigabytes of RAM for loading massive sample libraries and compositional templates. GigaStudio 4 also hosts VSTi and GVI virtual instruments, loading or stacking instruments alongside GigaStudio instrument libraries.
