First Pro DJ App for Android – Mixvibes CrossDJ
In a market totally in the hands by the iOS platform by Apple, Mixvibes took on the challenge and created the world’s first Pro DJ app for the Android platform. “Our users kept complaining that there was no decent DJ app on Android. So we started thinking: Hey, why not bringing our expertise in pro DJ software to this platform?” says CEO Eric Guez.

So, … how did it all start then, back in 2003. Two guys from Eindhoven (The Netherlands) were sitting outside a cafe enjoying a drink in the sun. Marc van den Hurk, a DJ/producer and studio owner, and Mark Dobrinic, a software programmer, were discussing the remains of a webshop project that went ‘belly up’. From this project a database existed with lots of gear and the related product information. Both thought it would be a shame if this information would be lost. But what to do with this database? Why not create an information portal for gearheads and gearlovers alike?

This is one pretty darn great idea. umidi lets you design your own controller, and then they built it for you! Using umidi’s design interface, you can choose up to 36 components on a 6×6 grid including knobs, faders, encoders, jog wheels, and aluminium push buttons. You can choose the way your components are positioned, colored, and the lighting shapes around each one. Something For The Weekend: Recreate 38 Daft Punk songs in 5 minutes!
Introducing are a unique live prospect. Playing Daft Punks ‘Discovery’ album from 2001, live from start-to-finish this six piece band, stage whole albums previously thought unperformable. Their first project was DJ Shadow’s sample based classic ‘Endtroducing’, and now they have done their homework to nail every last robotic detail of the French duo’s massive album live on Radio 1. The band comprise of a range of world class sessions musicians, sound engineers and actors in order to make it all happen, spending months to perfect sounds, and tackle this seemingly impossible feat.
