Universal Audio have released UAD software v7.4.1, which is a public beta download for Mac users that allows Pro Tools 11 owners to take advantage of the complete UAD plug-in library. This release supports the entire UAD-2 product lineup, including all Apollo interfaces, UAD-2 PCIe cards, and UAD-2 Satellite devices. (Windows 7 users, fear not — a fully tested and qualified cross-platform release will drop in early 2014.)

So, … how did it all start then, back in 2003. Two guys from Eindhoven (The Netherlands) were sitting outside a cafe enjoying a drink in the sun. Marc van den Hurk, a DJ/producer and studio owner, and Mark Dobrinic, a software programmer, were discussing the remains of a webshop project that went ‘belly up’. From this project a database existed with lots of gear and the related product information. Both thought it would be a shame if this information would be lost. But what to do with this database? Why not create an information portal for gearheads and gearlovers alike?

What makes Sound2Serve different from other available services is that it uses the SoundCloud API for all audio. This is one pretty darn great idea. umidi lets you design your own controller, and then they built it for you! Using umidi’s design interface, you can choose up to 36 components on a 6×6 grid including knobs, faders, encoders, jog wheels, and aluminium push buttons. You can choose the way your components are positioned, colored, and the lighting shapes around each one. To personalize your controller further, you can have a custom image laser etched onto your umidi. You are able to build a completely unique controller.
