Electrodyne 2501 and 2511 Unveiled by Petes Place Audio

Recently we showed you the video of the new Electrodyne 2501 pre amp. This week Pete’s Place informed us that the 2501 and the 2511 Equalizer are being launched. In January of 2009, Electrodyne and Pete’s Place Audio teamed up to bring back the classic Electrodyne brand in 500 Series module form with the launch of the 501 discrete two-stage studio preamp and 511 two-band inductor EQ. Now, almost five years later, the two companies have come together once again to offer dual mono-channel, 19-inch rack-mounted versions of both products known as the Electrodyne 2501 and 2511.

Manley Labs, a privately owned company that designs, manufactures and distributes high-end analog audio equipment, announced a rebate program in the USA for their best selling audio products. The rebate is Manley’s way of celebrating the 25th anniversary of their company that proudly manufactures all their products in the USA. The rebate began October 1 and be active thru December 31, 2013.

We heard some rumours about a new MASCHINE through the grapevine for a while now, but rumours are rumours. We were pretty excited, but also cautious if these rumours would carry any truth with them. But today, the rumours were confirmed by Native Instruments as they announce MASCHINE STUDIO and MASCHINE 2.0 – the new flagship groove production studio and next generation of MASCHINE software.

One of the major issues of getting a mix right is to know how well the mix translates on any given speaker system. How more worse it sounds the better in that case. That’s why I use the stock audio system in my car because it sounds abysmal which is perfect to check mixes. Also when your monitors aren’t that pristine, when you are listening to a mix, you’ll often miss out on details. The other way around applies as well. Even when you have a mastering grade sound system you may wonder how it will sound on a consumer grade sound system. Of course you can create your own impulse responses of various environments and use them with a impulse response plug-in to create this effect but that takes effort and time.
