Native Instruments introduces ABBEY ROAD 50s DRUMMER
Native Instruments introduced ABBEY ROAD 50s DRUMMER, a new KONTAKT instrument featuring the sound of two classic drum kits from the 1950s. The kits provide the distinctive drum sound of the era, which was necessary to compete with the electrified instruments gaining popularity at the time. Recorded with both state-of-the-art and period equipment at Abbey Road Studios in London, 50s DRUMMER also includes a groove library, mixer presets, and a new set of brush articulations, delivering the authentic feel of rock and roll, rhythm and blues, country, and jazz from the 1950s.
Cymatic LR-16 USB Live Recorder Shipping
Cymatic Audio is an exciting new brand offering stand–alone Direct to USB recording to Thumb and Hard drives. Their first product, the LR-16, is being describes as the worlds easiest to use 16-Track recorder. Cymatic tells us that the LR-16 is now shipping.
New Sounds in the Nord Sample Library
Nord Keyboards have added new sounds to the Sample Library. The Hound was a digital synthesizer module with analog filters (VCF) developed in the late nineties by the Dutch company Cirko Electronics. Although it received good reviews when released, only 20 units were ever produced. It had a special “fatness” parameter that gave the sound more meat when applying a lot of resonance, 4-outputs and was 16-part multitimbral. Thanks to Eric van den Berk for making these samples!

Something For The Weekend: Pigeons Daft Punk Medley
These past weeks there has been a lot of attention to the latest album by Daft Punk, ‘Random Access Memories’. If you have a presence on the internet, then you couldn’t dodge tweets, messages, comments or whatever that had this new album as a subject. Thoughts on the new album range from brilliant and genius, to ‘meh’ and ‘not bad’. Anyway, for this edition of “Something for the weekend” we turn to the band Pigeon for a medley of older Daft Punk tunes we all love.
Reason 7 and MIDI compatibility – Video
With the recently introduced version 7 of the Propellerhead Reason DAW users get to use their externat MIDI instruments. So now Reason 7 comes with MIDI out support to bring the sound of your favorite hardware synths and beat machines to the Reason rack. MIDI is handled by the new External MIDI Instrument device, fully integrated into the Reason environment. Automating MIDI equipment from Reason’s sequencer or even from control voltages in the Reason rack is a breeze to set up.
